Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore (RAAC), a reputed NGO acting as a bridge between corporates and society, executing various projects related to education, environment (solid waste management) and also providing guidance and consultation on city’s infrastructure projects celebrated its 20 years of continuous service to society, on Friday and also hosted a Thanksgiving Ceremony expressing its gratitude to partners and CSR sponsors.
The event took place at the Coimbatore Cosmopolitan Club. C.Balasubramanian, President, RAAC welcomed the gathering.
G.Soundararajan, Founder, RAAC elaborated about the genesis of this association, its core-purpose in Coimbatore and what it has accomplished in 2 decades since its official establishment in 2006 (although it started functioning way back in 2003-04).
R.R.Balasundaram, Advisor, RAAC spoke about the various works executed via the C.R.Swaminathan Memorial Endowment.
Late. C.R.Swaminathan, was a highly respected academic leader in Coimbatore, and one of the mentors for RAAC. A multi-crore endowment fund was created in his memory and it is being used to upgrade/ augment facilities of deserving educational institutions run by govt.bodies in Coimbatore.

R.Raveendran, Vice President, RAAC listed out a few flagship projects, and explained how this association creates a transformational effect in society by providing scientific solutions to solid waste-related challenges the city has faced, how it has made multiple corporation-run and union panchayat-run schools obtain excellent infrastructure upgrades by linking them with some of the reputed corporates like Robert Bosch, Milacron besides other prominent sponsors too.
V.Sundaram, Vice President, RAAC gave an outline of what else could be achieved by Corporates looking to utilise their CSR grants for the good of the community here.
At the end of the event, 35+ corporate partners, CSR sponsors and associates of RAAC were honoured with Social Impact Championship Award for their invaluable contributions to Coimbatore’s development via the association.
