The Department of Electronics (Self-Financed) at PSG College of Arts & Science recently organized a one-day national seminar on “Emerging Trends in E-mobility.”
Nanda Kumar, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Electronics, delivered the welcome address. Senguttuvan, Principal In-charge of the college, gave the presidential address.
In his speech, he discussed the developments in the E-vehicle sector, its importance, and the future advancements that are expected in the field.
Kannaian, Secretary of the college, delivered the felicitation address. He emphasized the importance of basic science fundamentals and explained that students should have a strong foundation in the core area. He illustrated this with an example of a tree: the roots represent basic science, the stem symbolizes applied science (engineering), the leaves represent the latest technology, and the flower signifies cutting-edge technology.
Following this, the inaugural address was given by Chandrasekar, Corporate Director of Roots Group of Companies and an alumnus of our college. He stressed the developments that have taken place in the E-mobility sector, as well as the future opportunities within it. He also advised students to strengthen their core area skills, stating that only then will they be able to thrive in the industry. He spoke about the current trends in the E-mobility sector and why the government is focusing more on E-vehicles and their importance.
Thirumurugan of Pinnacle Lithium Power, Coimbatore, provided an introduction to “Trends in Electric Vehicles (EVs) – The Future of Mobility.”
After the inaugural session, the first technical session was delivered by Karthikeyan, Application Engineer (MATLAB) at ARK Infosolutions Private Limited, Chennai. He discussed how battery management systems can be modeled using MATLAB/SIMULINK. He also explained the working principles of motors, inverters, converters, and more, using MATLAB/SIMULINK modeling.
The second technical session was conducted by Shanmugam, General Manager at Roots India Ltd., Coimbatore, on the topic “Power Electronics – Applications in EVs.” He explained the concepts and applications of power electronics in the E-vehicle industry and encouraged students to deepen their understanding of power electronics and its applications.
The third technical session was delivered by Sayee Ganesh, CTO of GreenerG Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore, on the topic “EV Power Train Systems.” In his talk, he explained the concepts and working principles of powertrain systems. He also discussed the assembly of electric vehicles, the components involved, and how they are connected to each ECU.
At the valedictory session, Nivedha, Business Development Manager at AR4 Tech Private Limited, Coimbatore, gave the valedictory address. She explained the process of electric vehicle conversion and highlighted the skills that students need to acquire in this field. She stressed the importance of E-vehicle conversion in today’s world, emphasizing that this can be achieved without changing the vehicle model.
Around 50 participants from various colleges registered and participated in the national seminar on “Emerging Trends in E-mobility.” They also displayed various E-vehicles from Tata Motors, Coimbatore, and CAI Mahindra, Coimbatore, to raise awareness about the ongoing trends in the E-vehicle system.
