Kongunadu Arts and Science College observed World Ozone Day by organising an awareness programme and a plant distribution drive under the theme “Green Hands, Green Future” on Wednesday.

The programme was jointly organised by the PG and Research Department of Botany and the Youth Red Cross of the college.

The programme was inaugurated by C. A. Vasuki, College Secretary and Director, who actively participated in the tree-planting activity and planted saplings on the college campus. The initiative highlighted the importance of protecting the environment and increasing green cover.

The programme organisers, Abdul Kaffoor and Rekka, coordinated the event. Thenmozhi, Head of the Department of Botany, served as the Convener, while Sangeetha, Principal, graced the programme as the Patron.

As part of the programme, saplings were distributed and planted to create environmental awareness among students and encourage their active participation in conservation activities.

The initiative highlighted the importance of ozone-layer protection, tree planting, biodiversity conservation and sustainable environmental practices. The programme concluded with a call to students and the public to adopt the practice of planting and nurturing trees for a greener and healthier future.
