The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology (NGPiTech) hosted a two-day conference, “Sustainable Energy Pathway for Tamil Nadu Climate Resilience (SUSTAIN TN CARE),” recently.

The workshop was sponsored under the AICTE-VAANI scheme, the conference brought together distinguished academics, researchers, and industry leaders to address the critical challenges of energy sustainability and climate resilience in Tamil Nadu.

The event began with a welcome address by Sreebalaji, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering. Thavamani D Palaniswami, Secretary of the institute gave the Presidential Address.

The resource persons shared their expertise on a range of topics. Notable speakers included Kadirvelu, Scientist and Associate Director at DRDO, who presented on advanced energy technologies and defence sector applications.

Shankar Venugopal, Vice President of Mahindra & Mahindra, discussed sustainable innovation in the industry. Parthasarathi, Scientific Officer – E from IGCAR, Kalpakkam, explored energy resilience through atomic research and Swarnalatha, Principal Scientist at CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute, addressed environmental science and sustainable practices.

Subramanian Viswanathan of Sri Paramakalyani College delved into microbiological research for climate resilience, while Vedharaj Sivasankaralingam from NIT-Trichy highlighted energy-efficient mechanical engineering techniques.

Praveena Gangadharan, Assistant Professor at IIT Palakkad, addressed sanitation and global climate strategies and Kumar Rajamani, Associate Director at Cropin, Bengaluru, focused on technological solutions for agriculture and energy.

Key topics discussed over the two days included advanced sustainable energy technologies, bio-climatic solutions, renewable energy integration, and innovative approaches to mitigate environmental impacts.

The conference also underscored the importance of academia-industry collaboration in achieving long-term sustainability goals.

Prabha, Principal of the institute felicitated the speakers and highlighted the institution’s pivotal role in fostering research and innovation.
