As the wind speed is increasing in Coimbatore district in the recent days, power generation through wind mills are reportedly picking pace.

Tamil Nadu experience strong winds between May and September. Coimbatore plays an important role in wind energy generation besides Udumalpet, Tirupur, Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli. The state generates around 7 to 8 crore units during the season. TNEB procures them at Rs. 4 per unit, a report mentioned.

Industry members are reportedly happy with the current development in wind energy generation and they are hoping that the pace will increase in the coming weeks.
