The Traffic Wing of Coimbatore City Police Department inspected 100+ buses at Saravanampatti on Monday along with Regional Transport Office (RTO) personnel under the orders of Coimbatore City Police Commissioner.
The surprise check revealed installation of air-horns in more than 2 dozen buses while other buses were fined for over-speed and usage of unauthorized LED lights.

North Regional Transport Officer Viswanathan and traffic police personnel conducted the vehicle inspection. During the inspection it was found that 5 vehicles exceeded the prescribed passenger limit, 2 buses had installed unauthorized LED lights and 20 of them had installed air-horns. The officials slapped fines accordingly. Rs. 82,000 was the total fine amount levied on all the buses, a source said.
