Bus shelters in many parts of Coimbatore either don’t get adequate light from the street lights nearby due to tree branches blocking the lights or lack of lights within the shelters. Women passengers who wait at such bus shelters in the evening hours expressed disappointment over the situation.
On the other side, bus shelters with private advertisements installed inside them have proper lighting facilities whereas the ones without ads mostly remain poorly illuminated.
Passengers, especially women who wait at these bus stops in the evening hours, expressed that they would feel much comfortable if the leaves that block street light from reaching the shelters are cut or if the concerned authorities install tube lights at bus shelters. City Corporation should consider taking sufficient measures regarding this request from passengers.
