The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore (ICCIC), inaugurated Uzhave Thalai 8.0, a one-day agriculture seminar, by lighting the ceremonial lamp at CODISSIA Hall D today as part of Agri Intex 2026.

Rajesh B. Lund, President of ICCIC, welcomed the gathering. Valluvan, a farmer from Pollachi who has been globally recognised as a UN FAO Soil Farmer Hero, attended the event as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Valluvan shared his UN-recognised multi-cropping technique, which helps increase agricultural productivity while retaining soil nutrients.

The seminar features discussions on agritourism, vertical farming, automated irrigation and nutrient management, and intercropping options for coconut cultivation, led by experts from across India.
Mani Sundar, Advisor to the seminar, spoke about the previous editions of Uzhave Thalai and highlighted the topics discussed in earlier seminars. He also announced that, beginning this year, the Uzhave Thalai team will expand the programme by including agricultural field visits as part of its learning initiative.


Rangaswamy, President of CODISSIA, and the organisers of Agri Intex 2026 were honoured during the event. Rangaswamy delivered the felicitation address and honoured the chief guest, Valluvan.

Vanitha Mohan, Past President of ICCIC, office-bearers of ICCIC, representatives of CODISSIA and COINTEX, Saravanan Chandrasekaran, Member of the Agri Committee, along with farmers and students, were present at the seminar.
