The Department of Commerce and Commerce PA Association of Hindusthan College of Arts & Science (HICAS) inaugurated the Commerce Association, recently.

The inauguration ceremony also had a special address on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

Dr. M. Karthikeyan, the Association Coordinator, welcomed the gathering. V. Rathna Sabapathy. former Superintendent of Police, Dr. P. Priya, Professor & Head, the Convenor, and Dr. A. Ponnusamy, Principal also addressed the audience, emphasizing the significance of intellectual property rights in today’s academic and professional landscape.

Dr. P. Priya, the Convenor of the event and Head of the Department of Commerce- PA, addressed the gathering with her insightful remarks and shared her admiration for his illustrious career and contributions to public service and intellectual property rights.

Dr. A. Ponnusamy in his speech, highlighted the critical role that intellectual property rights play in fostering innovation and protecting creative endeavors. He underscored the need for students to be well-versed in IPR, considering its growing relevance in various fields such as technology, business, and the arts.

  1. Rathna Sabapathy delivered an insightful and engaging lecture on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). Drawing from his extensive experience as a former Superintendent of Police and a Member of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), he highlighted the importance of understanding and protecting intellectual property in various fields. Also discussed the different types of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, and explained their relevance in the context of business, innovation, and academia.

Furthermore, he shared real-life examples and case studies, making the session highly informative and practical for the attendees.

Following the lecture, an interactive session was held where students and faculty members had the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarifications from the Chief Guest. Sabapathy’s responses were thorough and provided valuable insights into the practical implications of intellectual property laws.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. M. Karthikeyan.
