The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Coimbatore organised a Knowledge Sharing Session on New Labour Codes recently in the city.

The session was organised with the objective of creating awareness among industry stakeholders on the key provisions of the New Labour Codes and enabling organisations to prepare for the evolving compliance framework, workforce management practices and statutory obligations.

Welcoming the participants, Mahalingam RamasamyVice Chairman, CII Coimbatore Zone and Managing Director, Arche Global, highlighted the importance of building industry readiness for the implementation of the New Labour Codes and emphasised the need for organisations to proactively understand the changing labour and regulatory landscape.

Delivering the Special Address, Kannan, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City, highlighted the significance of the New Labour Codes in simplifying labour regulations by consolidating multiple labour laws into four comprehensive codes.

He emphasised the need for industries to understand the evolving compliance framework, adopt technology-driven HR and compliance systems, and prepare for streamlined processes such as unified licences and returns.

He also noted the shift towards a facilitative approach in labour administration, enhanced social security coverage for employees, and the importance of ensuring organisations are ready for the implementation of the new labour law regime. He also appreciated CII Coimbatore Zone for organising a timely knowledge-sharing platform for the industry.

The experts provided comprehensive insights into the four Labour Codes, the Code on Wages, the Code on Social Security, the Industrial Relations Code, and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSHWC) Code, highlighting their practical implications for businesses and the key compliance measures required for effective implementation.

The deliberations focused on workforce policies, wage structures, social security provisions, occupational safety standards and statutory compliance under the new labour framework.
