Coimbatore-headquartered Sankara Eye Foundation, serving people across India through its various
super speciality eye hospitals across the country entered the Asia Book of Records recently for performing 30 lakh free eye surgeries from March 2004 to March 2026.
These surgeries are made as part of its humanitarian initiatives and these procedures have successfully restored vision of people belonging to underserved sections of the society across the country.
Dr. R.V. Ramani, Founder & Managing Trustee Sankara Eye Foundation, India received the
official certification for the record in person.
“This recognition by the Asia Book of Records is a proud and humbling moment for all of us at Sankara Eye Foundation India as it establishes the Foundation as a forerunner in Asia in providing community eye care,” he said.
“Since inception, we have been driven by a single purpose to eliminate curable blindness. Performing over 30 Lakh free eye surgeries is not just a milestone, but a reflection of the trust placed in us by millions
of patients and communities across India. Today, our network performs nearly 1,000 surgeries every
day across 14 locations in 10 states, demonstrating that scale and quality can go hand in hand in
delivering impactful healthcare,” he added.
