Rtn. Balamurugan, Founder of Kovai Diabetes Speciality Centre and Hospital, assumed office as President of the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Saicity for the Rotary year 2026–27 during the club’s installation ceremony held recently.

The ceremony saw writer and orator Rajamoorthy take part as the Chief Guest while Dr. Abul Hassan, Past President of the Indian Medical Association-Tamil Nadu joined him as the Guest of Honour. Along with Rtn. Balamurugan, Rtn. J. Balaji took charge as Secretary and Rtn. Rajavel K. as Treasurer. At the event, Rtn. Thulasiethu, GGR. Outgoing President Rtn. Haldorai and Outgoing Secretary Rtn. Ananthakrishnan formally handed over charge.

Dr. Koshalram, President of the Indian Medical Association, Coimbatore Branch, felicitated the new team. The ceremony was attended by Rtn. Manivannan, District Director, RI District 3206 and Rtn. Deepana, Assistant Governor, RI District 3206.

At the ceremony, Dr. Balamurugan announced a series of preventive healthcare initiatives centred on early detection and disease prevention.

“The club will organise district-wide pre-diabetes screening programs, launch the Rotary Health Series in association with the Indian Medical Association to conduct quarterly public health awareness sessions led by medical experts, offer affordable FibroScan screening for early detection of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) for Rotary members and cluster clubs, and implement a comprehensive diabetic foot prevention program aimed at reducing avoidable complications through education, screening and timely intervention,” a press release said.
