In the recently concluded financial year 2025-26, Coimbatore Railway Station secured the first place among other stations in the Western part of Tamil Nadu by earning Rs.368 crore revenue via sale of ticket. 2.4 crore passengers utilized Coimbatore Station during the FY 2025-26.
Salem earned the 2nd place while Erode took the 3rd, and they are followed by Tiruppur, Dindigul, Podanur (Coimbatore South), Karur, Mettupalayam, Palani and Ooty. Chennai Central stands first in Southern Railway level, and in this same category Coimbatore has earned the 4th place.
Kongu Global Forum, an entity representing influential industry members of Western TN, requested Southern Railways to create more train maintenance facilities as it will result in better upkeep of trains and improve operational efficiency in this region.
It further appealed the Southern Railways to redevelop railway junctions and add more platforms to accommodate growing passenger traffic and run more trains with better punctuality. these initiatives will help restore / start train services from this region to various parts of the country.
