Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) formally launched its Coimbatore Chapter and introduced its inaugural leadership team at a grand ceremony held at The Grand Regent Hotel, Coimbatore, on Saturday, marking a significant milestone for the public relations and corporate communications fraternity in the region.
The ceremony was graced by Katta Ravi Teja, Commissioner, Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, and Kannan, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City, as chief guests.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the introduction of the inaugural leadership team of the PRCI Coimbatore Chapter.
Prahadeeshwaran, General Manager – Public Relations, SNR Sons Charitable Trust, assumed charge as Chairman; Aadhi Pandian, Director – Public Relations, Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, as Secretary; and Gokul, Head – Branding and Media Relations, GKNMH, as Treasurer, marking the formal commencement of the chapter’s activities in the region.
The launch of the Coimbatore Chapter is expected to strengthen the city’s public relations and corporate communications ecosystem by creating a platform for professional networking, knowledge sharing, leadership development, and industry-academia collaboration.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the growing importance of strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and the responsible dissemination of information in today’s rapidly evolving environment.
They appreciated PRCI’s efforts in nurturing communication professionals and fostering meaningful dialogue between institutions and society.
The event was also attended by senior national leaders of PRCI, including Geetha Shankar, National President, PRCI; Vinay Kumar, Chairman, Governing Council, PRCI; and Jayaram, Mentor and Chairman Emeritus, PRCI.
In their addresses, they emphasized the importance of strengthening regional chapters and promoting initiatives that contribute to the advancement of the communications profession across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Geetha Shankar underscored the evolving role of public relations professionals in building trust, managing stakeholder relationships, and fostering transparent communication in an increasingly digital world.
Jayaram encouraged members to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and social responsibility, while Vinay Kumar reiterated PRCI’s commitment to capacity building, innovation, and creating opportunities for young communication professionals.
Following the assumption of office, Prahadeeshwaran outlined the chapter’s vision to position Coimbatore as a hub for communication excellence through seminars, workshops, professional networking initiatives, student outreach programmes, leadership forums, and industry-academia partnerships.
Aadhi Pandian emphasized the importance of collaboration among communication professionals, media practitioners, corporate organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies.
The gathering also discussed emerging trends in public relations, digital communications, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement, while recognizing the growing relevance of strategic communication across business, governance, education, healthcare, and social development sectors.
On the occasion, the Coimbatore Chapter felicitated Palaniappan, Senior Manager – Corporate Communications, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), in recognition of his valuable contributions to the growth and development of PRCI activities in the region.
PRCI leaders appreciated his continued support in strengthening professional networking, promoting knowledge-sharing initiatives, and advancing the values of ethical communication and professional excellence.
The event brought together distinguished government officials, communication professionals, corporate leaders, academicians, entrepreneurs, media representatives, and members of the public relations.
