Dr. NGP Institute of Technology (NGP iTech), the Institution of Valuers, Coimbatore Branch, and Adani Cement signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently.
Prabha, Principal, in her welcome address, highlighted the importance of the MoU and its role in strengthening industry–academia collaboration and creating enhanced learning opportunities for students.
Kadhir Vel, Chairman, Institution of Valuers, Coimbatore Branch, explained that the MoU aims to promote Collaborative Teaching and Mentorship, Knowledge Exchange and Academic Enrichment, and Industry-Oriented Skill Development in the field of Civil Engineering.
He also highlighted the importance of providing enhanced training, internship, and placement opportunities for Civil Engineering graduates.
Murugu Elan Thendral, Regional Technical Service Head/Manager, Adani Cement, emphasised the importance of industry–academia partnerships in bridging the existing talent gap in the construction industry.
He stated that such collaborations would provide students with opportunities to acquire industry-relevant skills and gain practical exposure to real-world construction practices.
The representatives from the Institution of Valuers further highlighted the importance of early exposure to professional practices and informed that students could be provided with motivation, career guidance, and field training from the first year onwards.
They also discussed the wide range of career opportunities available to Civil Engineering graduates and various professional avenues across different domains of Civil Engineering.
The MoU is expected to strengthen the relationship between academia and industry and facilitate skill development, practical training, knowledge exchange, internships, career guidance, placement support, and professional development for students.
