The Faculty of Computer Science of Dr NGP Arts and Science College in collaboration with Curtin University, Malaysia organized a Pre-Conference Workshop on January 2, 2025, on the topic Internet of Things and Cybersecurity under the DBT STAR College Scheme.
The event was conducted as part of the International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Communication Technologies (ICCICT 2K25) taking place today (January 3, 2025).
The inaugural ceremony commenced with a welcome address followed by an introduction of the keynote speakers by Mary Magdalene Jane, Dean, Faculty of Computer Science of the college.
The Felicitation address was given by Ramamurthi, Director, Academics followed by Saravanan, Principal of the college.
The Chief Guest Wong Wei Kitt, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Curtin University, Malaysia delivered an enlightening session on the topic Internet of Things sharing valuable insights into the rapidly evolving field.
Wong’s address emphasized that the technological revolution presents the current generation with numerous opportunities to develop ground-breaking solutions. He also highlighted that IoT bridges the physical and digital realms, facilitating seamless integration and unprecedented connectivity.
Sivaraman Eswaran, Senior Lecturer, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Curtin University, Malaysia delivered an illuminating address on Cybersecurity, imparting profound insights into this swiftly advancing domain.
He pointed out that AI is becoming more integrated into the workforce and cybersecurity plays a critical role in ensuring its safe and ethical deployment. He stressed the need for robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard AI models, protect data integrity and prevent adversarial attacks that could compromise systems.
His observations on the ethical considerations and security challenges associated with data left the audience with much to ponder.
The workshop saw an active participation of students from the Faculty of Computer Science, who benefited immensely from the practical knowledge imparted during the session.
