KV Institute of Management and Information Studies (KVIM) recently conducted a Guest Lecture on ‘Logistics in Action: Essential types and its importance in Global Supply Chain’

Anish Ragul, Logistics Team Lead at Global Corp Logistics, was the guest lecturer. He shared valuable insights on logistics and global supply chain operations.

The session began with an overview of Supply Chain Management (SCM), highlighting its role in improving efficiency and value by integrating functions. Anish emphasised the importance of cross-functional coordination among departments like marketing, finance, operations, and logistics.

He explained key logistics modes—road, rail, air, and sea—and their respective advantages in global trade. The types and purposes of various shipping containers were discussed, along with movement types like FCL, LCL, Breakbulk, and Roll-on/Roll-off.

Anish introduced key export/import documents such as the Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin, and Letter of Credit, stressing their importance for legal compliance and smooth operations.

He illustrated real-world logistics challenges and solutions from his professional experience, emphasising adaptability and problem-solving.

The students gained practical knowledge and a clearer understanding of logistics’ vital role in global supply chains.
