Recently, the Karpagam Innovation and Incubation Council (KIIC), in association with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education (KAHE), organised a national-level hackathon and expo, titled Impairathon, which focused on assistive technology and special needs.
The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest Kranthi Kumar, District Collector, Coimbatore. Vasanthakumar, president of Karpagam institution was also present and graced the event.
This collaborative event also involves key partners such as the Commissionerate for the Welfare of Differently Abled (Government of Tamil Nadu), Startup TN, STPI, TANCAM, Karpagam Innovation Centre, Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu, Cognizant, Young Initiative Accessibility, Young Indians, and the Confederation of Indian Industry.
Impairathon aims to unite innovators and entrepreneurs in raising awareness about the critical role of assistive technology for differently abled individuals. By fostering creativity and collaboration, this event seeks to empower participants to develop impactful solutions that enhance accessibility and improve the quality of life for all.
The expo showcased a range of assistive technologies and accessibility devices. Coinciding with the event, the grand finale of a national hackathon was also held.
Companies across India participated in the event, promoting innovation and collaboration. Their involvement played a crucial role in fostering creativity and driving the development of impactful solutions in the field of assistive technology.
The event also featured an investor connect session and inclusive awards for educational institutions and companies committed to promoting the accessibility and employability of differently-abled persons.
