The city of Coimbatore is in the spotlight of Indian Tourism as SKAL India – an organization of travel and tourism professionals is organizing its National Conference here, for the very first time.

Called SKAL India National Congress 2026, this four-day conference is being held from August 12 to 15 at Hotel Le Meridien, Coimbatore, and has brought together tourism professionals and delegates from across India as well as representatives from various countries.

Tourism Minister of Tamil Nadu, Rajesh Kumar and Minister for Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities Welfare, Sampath Kumar inaugurated the event.

In these four days, SKAL members, tourism experts, and key stakeholders from the travel and tourism industry across the country will participate in the conference. The conference features discussions on the future of tourism, emerging opportunities, industry collaboration, and the exchange of ideas among tourism professionals.

The key themes of this year’s conference are Sustainability and Heritage, with a strong focus on promoting responsible tourism while preserving the cultural, environmental, and heritage assets of tourism destinations.

The inaugural session was attended by Coimbatore District Collector Pawan Kumar G. Giriyappanavar, IAS; Sanjeev Mehra, President of SKAL International India; G.D. Ganesh, Chairman of the Conference.
