The Interact Club of Government Polytechnic College, Coimbatore, was formally chartered on Thursday at the college, under the sponsorship of the Rotary Coimbatore Gaalaxy, marking the beginning of a new platform for student leadership and community service.
N. Jagadeesan, Principal, Government Polytechnic College, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Rtn. Henry Amalaraj, District Chairman – Interact Clubs, Rotary International District 3206, was the Guest of Honour. Er. Santha Narasimhan, President, Government Polytechnic College Alumni Association (GPTCAA), attended as the Special Invitee. Shanmugashivagama Valli, Vice Principal of the college, was also one of the distinguished guests at the ceremony.
Representing the sponsoring Rotary Club, Rtn. Kannappan Narayanan, President, Rotary Coimbatore Gaalaxy, led the Rotary delegation and formally welcomed the new Interact Club into the Rotary family. He was joined by Rtn. Nandini Selvaraj, Secretary; Rtn. Balasubramanian, Youth Service Chairman; and other Rotarians from the club. T. Masilamani, Staff Advisor and Alumni Coordinator, Government Polytechnic College, coordinated the programme from the institution.
As part of the charter ceremony, Jai Santhosh assumed office as the Charter President of the Interact Club, along with the newly constituted Board of Members who will work under his leadership. The young team will spearhead the club’s service, leadership and social initiatives during its charter year.
Adding a meaningful environmental dimension to the occasion, native tree saplings were donated to the Interact Club by Nizhal Maiyam, represented by its Founder, Murugan. The gesture encouraged the young Interactors to make environmental stewardship an integral part of their service journey.
The programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of college authorities, Rotary members, alumni and students. The chartering of the club marks the beginning of an opportunity for students to develop leadership, teamwork, social responsibility and a spirit of service, while working closely with the Rotary Coimbatore Gaalaxy.
The occasion thus celebrated not merely the formation of a new club, but the beginning of a new generation of young leaders committed to service, community and positive change.
