Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS) celebrated the vibrant festival of Onam with great enthusiasm, cultural splendour, and active participation from students and faculty members.

The programme commenced with a Chenda Melam performance, creating a festive atmosphere and setting the tone for the day’s celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, Valarmathi, Principal of VIMS, extended her warm Onam greetings to the students and faculty members. She highlighted the significance of Onam as a festival that transcends regional and cultural boundaries and brings people together through shared values of harmony, prosperity, and togetherness.

In her address, Valarmathi recalled the legendary story of King Mahabali, whose reign is remembered for prosperity, equality, justice, and the welfare of his people.

She encouraged students to develop themselves as people leaders who can understand others, work collaboratively, demonstrate empathy, and contribute positively to society.

The celebration featured a colourful Thiruvathira dance performance by the girl students.

Students also enthusiastically participated in a variety of traditional games, adding fun, excitement, and a strong sense of camaraderie to the celebrations. The festive spirit continued with a series of dance, music, and drama performances presented by the students.

The performances provided students with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and talents while celebrating India’s rich cultural diversity.
