The PG & Research Department of Mathematics at Nirmala College for Women conducted a one-day International Conference on Modeling Strategies in Mathematics (ICMSM-2026) today.
Organised in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, under an active Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the conference served as a global platform for researchers, academicians, and educators to share advancements across pure and applied mathematical disciplines.
The event commenced under the leadership of the College Principal, Mary Fabiola and guided by the College Secretary, Kulandai Therese and Convenor Sahaya Sudha, Head, Department of Mathematics.
Jayanthi, Head of the Department of Mathematics at Government Arts College, Coimbatore, delivered the keynote address.
Throughout the day, eminent guest speakers delivered specialised technical sessions highlighting the practical and theoretical applications of mathematics.
Sandali Hansika from the University of Colombo discussed computational epidemiology in her talk on forecasting dengue outbreaks. Sangeetha Shathish of CHRIST University, Bengaluru, presented on the applications of graph theory in network analysis.
Further sessions included Marshal Anthoni from Anna University Regional Campus, Coimbatore, speaking on the stabilisation of nonlinear partial differential equations, and Gilbert Rani from Arul Anandar College, Madurai, exploring emerging paradigms in granular computing.
The conference concluded after hosting multiple paper presentation tracks covering diverse topics such as artificial intelligence, cryptography, neural networks, and fluid dynamics.
Participants presented their research in both online and offline formats, fostering international collaboration and networking among the mathematical community.
