With an intent to increase Women and Child safety in Coimbatore, the Coimbatore District Police recently launched a new initiative called Nizhal. This initiative empowers the public to secretly inform the police about any matter of concern, especially crimes.

“Public can secretly inform the police through QR about women and child safety issues, drug-related offences, illegal activities, suspicious movements and any other information of concern,” the Coimbatore District police said.

Under this initiative, QR-codes facilitating access to the Nizhal platform are being displayed in places frequented by the public such as bus stops, railway stations, schools, colleges, govt.offices, factories, commercial complexes, parks etc.

Nizhal is available in both English and Tamil. Citizens who wish to report any incidents have the option to attach the geo-location, photos and provide a brief description of the matter of concern. They can also file audio complaint. The identity of the informant will remain completely anonymous.
