The Government Chief Whip of Kerala, Apu John Joseph, recently visited the Siruthuli office to understand the organization’s initiatives and explore opportunities for collaboration in water conservation.
The Siruthuli team presented the organization’s 23-year journey, highlighting its work in water conservation, water body restoration, afforestation, watershed management, rainwater harvesting, and environmental sustainability.
During the visit, Apu John Joseph expressed particular interest in Siruthuli’s rainwater harvesting structures and the Tree Park, where the organization raises its own saplings for large-scale plantation drives.
The Siruthuli team also sought the Chief Whip’s intervention in addressing two key issues related to the Siruvani Dam. They requested his support in facilitating the long-pending desilting of the dam, which has not been carried out for several years, and in exploring the possibility of repairing leaks that have developed in the dam to help safeguard this vital source of drinking water for the Coimbatore region.
Apu John Joseph interacted with the Siruthuli team, including Vanitha Mohan, Managing Trustee; Sathish, Trustee; Krishnaswamy, Convenor of the Nalla Thanni Project; Chandrasekar Vellingiri, Convenor of the Afforestation Vertical; Chinnasamy, Chief Operating Officer; and other members of the organization.
