With the objective to reduce imports of semiconductor and promote local manufacturing of the technology, Tamil Nadu Government has created Semiconductor Park in Varapatti of Sulur Taluk in Coimbatore.
This 100-acre campus comes with all the needed infrastructure to set up fabless chip design firms, semiconductor equipment manufacturing plants, startups and allied industries. According to sources, Coimbatore-based semiconductor design company Zepto Logic Technologies has been allotted 3 acres in the park by TIDCO to set up its plant.
This makes Zepto Logic Technologies the first company to enter the park that was developed recently. The government is in talks with various companies dealing with semiconductors, inviting them to invest in the State, and use the semiconductor park.
According to The Economic Times, the investment by Zepto Logic Technologies is around Rs.250-crore. Along with the semiconductor fabless design facility, it will also be setting up a skilling centre for very large scale integration (VLSI) and embedded skill development.
