A memorial floral tribute to commemorate the life and legacy of veteran filmmaker, actor, and screenwriter K. Bhagyaraj will be held in Coimbatore this Saturday (July 11), from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at SNR Auditorium, Nava India.

The event will bring together members of the film fraternity, admirers, and the public to pay homage to Bhagyaraj, widely acclaimed as the “King of Screenplays” for his distinctive contributions to Tamil cinema as a writer, director, actor, and producer. He passed away on June 27, 2026.

His wife, Poornima Bhagyaraj, and son, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, are expected to attend the programme.

Veteran actor Sivakumar will unveil Bhagyaraj’s portrait and offer floral tributes. Film director R. Sundarrajan, a longtime associate and childhood friend of Bhagyaraj, will deliver a special address, recalling his association with the late filmmaker and sharing personal memories.

The memorial is being organised by D. Srinivasan, Chairman of Annapoorna; V. Gopalakrishnan, former Mayor of Coimbatore; G. Karthikeyan, auditor; K.G. Ramakrishnamoorthy, former International Director of Lions Clubs International; Dr. Na. Manoharan, former District Governor of Lions Clubs International; R.L.N. Sivakumar, General Manager, The Hindu, Coimbatore; R. Swaminathan of Sasi Advertising; and the Bhagyaraj Fans Association.

The organisers have invited members of the public, admirers, and representatives of the film fraternity to participate in the tribute and honour the enduring legacy of one of Tamil cinema’s most celebrated storytellers.
