Southern India Engineering Manufacturers Association (SIEMA) shared via a press release it welcomes several announcements in the Budget presented by Tamil Nadu Govt for the financial year 2026-27.

The increase in allocation for the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department (MAWS) to Rs. 29,863 crore, compared to Rs. 26,678 crore last year, is a very positive step.

“Continued investment in drinking water, sewerage and urban water infrastructure will improve the quality of life while also creating substantial opportunities for Tamil Nadu’s engineering industries, particularly manufacturers of pumps, motors, valves and related equipment,” Mithun Ramdas, President of SIEMA said.

SIEMA also hailed TN Govt’s announcement to increase in rooftop subsidy from Rs.78,000 to Rs. 1 lakh. It stated that this will further boost the adoption of renewable rooftop power generation.

At the same time, it expressed its disappointment with the budget as there was no mention about pump being designated as a thrust sector, and withdrawing the fixed charges for power for MSMEs.
