Students of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women recently secured the first place at a national-level hackathon and received Rs. 1 lakh in seed funding to implement their innovative project.
In the preliminary round held in February, students from colleges across the country participated in the competition. Among them, six teams qualified for the final round, including two teams from Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women.
At the grand finale held recently in Coonoor, the college’s student team won the national championship with its AI-based waste segregation project, which uses artificial intelligence to classify waste efficiently. In addition to securing the top position, the team received Rs.1 lakh in seed funding to support the implementation of the project.
Sundar Ramakrishnan, Managing Trustee of the SNR Sons Charitable Trust, and Chitra, Principal of the college, congratulated and appreciated the students for their outstanding achievement.
