The District Secretariat of Rotary International District 3206 for the Rotary year 2027–28 was formally inaugurated in Coimbatore on Sunday, under the leadership of Rtn. MD Subramaniam, District Governor for the year 2027–28.
The day’s proceedings commenced with a special abhishekam at the historic Perur Patteeswarar Temple, seeking divine blessings for the forthcoming Rotary year. This was followed by the formal inauguration of the District Secretariat at the factory premises of Mirras Coffee in Saravanampatti, Coimbatore, where a meeting was held with the core secretariat team.
The inaugural celebrations continued in the evening at The Residency Towers, in the presence of senior Rotary leaders, district officials, Rotarians and distinguished guests.
Rtn. Maruti, District Governor (2026-27) formally called the meeting to order, marking the commencement of the evening’s proceedings.
During the event, District Governor for the year 2027–28, Rtn. Subramaniam, introduced his district leadership team, including the Assistant Governors and District Secretaries representing the Coimbatore and Palakkad regions.
Rtn AKRFC Leema Rose Martin, MLA and District Adviser for CSR, felicitated Rtn. Subramaniam.
Rtn Vittel, District Adviser; PDG Rtn. AKS Sundaravadivelu, District Learning Facilitator for 2027–28, and Rtn Murugan, Deputy District Learning Facilitator also extended their felicitations and best wishes.
PDG Rtn AKS Rajasekar, District Rotary Foundation Chair (DRFC) for 2027–28, and PDG Rtn Chella K. Raghavendra also felicitated Rtn. Subramaniam, conveying their support and best wishes for the forthcoming Rotary year.
Secretariat Team
The core secretariat team comprises District Secretaries Rtn Ramaswamy, Rtn Thirumurugan, Rtn Prem Kumar and Rtn. Parthiban and Rtn Ravichandran. The team will play a key role in coordinating district activities and supporting the incoming leadership.
The district to adopt streamlined leadership structure

Addressing the gathering, Rtn. Subramaniam outlined his vision for the forthcoming Rotary year, emphasising accessible leadership, stronger coordination between clubs and district officials, continuity in community service initiatives, and greater fellowship among Rotarians.
He announced that the district would adopt a streamlined leadership structure, enabling direct communication between the District Governor, Assistant Governors and Club Presidents.
The approach aims to strengthen coordination, provide timely support to clubs and encourage greater involvement at every level.
Highlighting the importance of leadership development, he shared plans for the Assistant Governors Learning Seminar (AGLS), commencing in Coimbatore with subsequent training in Bali, and the Presidents-Elect Learning Seminar (PELS), beginning in Coimbatore followed by training in Goa.
He also announced that his installation ceremony as District Governor of Rotary International District 3206 for the year 2027–28 will be held on July 4, 2027, at Hotel Le Méridien, Coimbatore. The ceremony will mark the formal commencement of his leadership for the Rotary year.
Rtn. Subramaniam further emphasised that the district would continue and strengthen ongoing service initiatives while placing special focus on fellowship, family participation and closer bonds among Rotary members.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rtn Ravichandran, District Executive Secretary for 2027–28, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, district officials, Rotarians and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the inauguration.
The occasion brought together members of the Rotary fraternity in a spirit of unity and fellowship, marking a significant beginning to the preparations for the 2027–28 Rotary year.
