PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PSG IMS&R) celebrated its Foundation Day 2026 on Wednesday, marking another milestone in the institution’s journey of medical education, research, and healthcare service during the centenary celebrations of PSG & Sons’ Charities.
The event brought together institutional leadership, faculty members, healthcare professionals, alumni, and students.
Padma Shri Awardee Dr. Mammen Chandy, Former Director of Tata Medical Centre, Kolkata, and Senior Consultant in the Department of Hematology & Clinical Pathology at Naruvi Hospitals, Vellore, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Dr. T. M. SubbaRao, Principal of PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research welcomed the gathering. L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee of PSG & Sons’ Charities, delivered the Presidential Address.
At the event 4 extraordinary alumni were honoured with the Distinguished Alumni Awards 2026, recognizing graduates who have made exceptional contributions across clinical practice, academia.
Dr. Manju R. Pillai, Professor at Aravind Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology and Senior Consultant, Glaucoma Services, Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai; Dr. Gopal Subramoniam, Senior Consultant Paediatrician at Dr. Jeyasekharan Hospital, Nagercoil; Dr. Sudharsanam M. B., Chief Impact and Applied AI Officer at Scope Impact, Helsinki, Finland and Dr. Felix Jebasingh K., Professor and Acting Head (Unit-2), Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, and Associate Medical Superintendent at Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore received the award.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sudha Ramalingam, Director of Research and Innovation, Professor & Head of Community Medicine, and Director of the PSG FAIMER Regional Institute.
