PSG College of Arts and Science (PSGCAS) celebrated its 79th Foundation Day on Tuesday at the college premises by honouring six of its distinguished alumni with the PSG CAS Distinguished Alumni Award for their significant contributions to society.
Mohanty, Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, and Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, Government of India, was the chief guest and delivered the Foundation Day address.
Shanmugam Nagarajan, Co-founder and Chief People Officer, [24]7.ai, California, USA, was the Guest of Honour.
Jayanthi, Principal of PSGCAS, delivered the welcome address, while L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG & Sons’ Charities, presided over the event and delivered the presidential address.





The six awardees were Raveendran Sankaran (B.Sc. Physics, 1985–1988; M.A. Social Work, 1988–1990), Director General & CEO, Bihar State Sports Authority, Patna; Raghuram Chetty (M.Sc. Chemistry, 1996–1998), Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Madras; Lakshmi Subramanian (M.A. Mass Communication, 1997–1999), Chief of Bureau, The Week, Chennai; Abhishek Rathod (B.Com., 1997–2000), Senior Portfolio Manager, Norges Bank Investment Management, New York; Group Captain Vivek (BCA, 2003–2006), Director (Operations), Air Headquarters, Indian Air Force, New Delhi; and Lokesh Kanagaraj (B.Sc. Costume Design & Fashion, 2003–2006), Film Director, Screenwriter, Actor, Producer and Founder of G-Squad and the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, Chennai.
The awardees were honoured by the Chief Guest Mohanty, Guest of Honour Shanmugam Nagarajan, and Managing Trustee L. Gopalakrishnan. Lokesh Kanagaraj was honoured in absentia. G.R. Karthikeyan, Chairman, PSG & Sons’ Charities, congratulated the awardees.

Earlier, the students of PSGCAS took a pledge for a “Drug-Free Tamil Nadu” as part of the state-level mass “Anti-Drug Pledge 2026” initiative. The state-level event was held in Chennai and presided over by Joseph Vijay, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The Foundation Day celebrations began with a musical performance. Heads and faculty members of PSGCAS, along with heads of various PSG institutions, attended the event and congratulated the awardees. Students of the college were also present.
