PPG College of Pharmacy recently organised a one-day brainstorming interactive workshop on “Innovative Research Ideas for High-Quality Indexed Publications in Pharmaceutical Sciences: Ethics, Integrity, and Responsible Research Practices.”
The event was held under the guidance of the Chief Patrons, Thangavelu, Chairman; Shanthi Thangavelu, Correspondent; and Akshay Thangavel, Vice Chairman, PPG Group of Institutions.
The workshop was designed to help faculty members and research scholars understand how to transform quality research into high-quality, ethically sound, indexed publications. It also focused on the importance of research ethics, integrity, responsible research practices, and creating awareness about avoiding predatory journals.
Presiding over the event, Principal Sam Solomon delivered the welcome address and emphasised that, in today’s competitive academic environment, publishing in high-impact, indexed journals has become essential for academic and research growth.
The resource person for the workshop was Balakumar Pitchai, Director of Research Training and Publications, Office of Research and Development, Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology, Thanjavur; Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology at Taylor’s University, Malaysia; and Consulting Editor for Pharmacological Research (Elsevier, Italy).
During the technical session, Balakumar Pitchai shared valuable insights on developing innovative research ideas, selecting reputed indexed journals, adhering to publication ethics, maintaining research integrity, and navigating the peer-review process.
He also highlighted practical strategies for transforming quality research into ethically sound, indexed publications, stressing that good data alone is not sufficient and that quality publications must be built on a strong foundation of research ethics, integrity, and responsible research practices.
Around 300 faculty members, research scholars, and students from PPG College of Pharmacy and various pharmacy colleges in and around Coimbatore actively participated in the workshop.
The interactive workshop encouraged participants to brainstorm research problems, explore pathways for publishing high-quality research in pharmaceutical sciences, and engage in meaningful discussions. The programme concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony.
