Vanathukkul Tirupur, a mass tree plantation initiative led by VETRY, an NGO formed by businesspeople from Tiruppur district, recently began its next phase of plantation by planting 15,000 trees across 100 acres near the Orathuppalayam Dam.
The initiative follows two years of planting and nurturing thousands of saplings across the district.
According to the organisation’s website, Vanathukkul Tirupur planted 15.85 lakh trees across Tiruppur district between 2015 and 2023. The initiative continues its efforts with plans to plant around two lakh trees every year.
Commenting on the initiative, philanthropist and industrialist K. R. Nagarajan, founder and chairperson of Ramraj Cotton, said, “I believe that true development is not just about what we build today, but also about what we leave behind for tomorrow.”
