Ever since Coimbatore city received Broadway Multiplex, the cinema experience of Coimbatore has increased significantly to new heights. The city got its first and Tamil Nadu’s 3rd IMAX screen, Tamil Nadu 1st EPIQ screen through it.
A few multiplexes and stand-alone theaters which were in plans to augment their capabilities have either installed new features into their cinema auditorium or renovated the whole establishment after Broadway’s stunning debut.
KG Cinemas underwent a beautiful renovation in September 2025. The 4-screen multiplex is set to become 8-9 screen establishment with luxury interiors, cutting edge projection and audio technology for an immersive experience.
Karpagam Theaters (Ganga-Yamuna Theater) is establishing Karpagam Grandplex in Sundarapuram. It will be a premium, 5-screen multiplex, and one screen will have EPIQ Luxon – India’s largest LED Screen.
This screen promises cutting-edge HDR visuals along with immersive Dolby Atmos 64-channel sound, premium slider seats and a grand cinematic experience.
Carnatic Cinemas is reportedly undergoing renovation and it is expected to feature dual auditoriums. Sri Sakthi Cinemas is developing a new project in Coimbatore and it will feature an EPIQ Luxon screen.
Baba Cinemas (Archana & Darsana) near Poo Market area in the city is undergoing renovation. Broadway Cinemas’ existing auditorium is expected to get qualified for Disney Studios’ Infinity Vision. It is a marketing certification and quality checklist created by Disney and Marvel Studios for Premium Large Format (PLF) auditoriums.
The upcoming mega MCU film Avengers : Doomsday will be available in Infinity Vision across the world, and Coimbatore could hopefully enjoy it through Broadway.
So in addition to Broadway’s EPIQ, the city is set to receive 2 EPIQ Luxon screens, an Infinity Vision screen and multiple premium auditoriums. While we have lost a few iconic theaters such as Central, Maruti, Delite in the last few years, 2026 will be a great time for movie-lovers in Coimbatore. As of now, there are no 4DX or Screen X movie theaters in the city, but who knows what is cooking in 2027!
