Shivanjali’s Temple of Fine Arts, a performing arts theatre in Coimbatore, in association with Kumaraguru Institutions, will organise a mega guitar ensemble titled ‘ODYSSEY – The Soul’s Blossoming’ at the Ramanandha Adigalar Auditorium, Kumaraguru College of Technology, on August 15 and 16 from 6 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
ODYSSEY is a guitar-based audio-visual presentation that aims to showcase the beauty of fine arts through a world-class production. The event seeks to raise awareness of the importance of the fine arts in our lives, and to encourage creativity and self-expression.
The announcement was made at a press meeting held on Wednesday at the Kumaraguru City Centre. Priya Dharshini, Head – Liberal Arts Education, Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science, along with representatives from Shivanjali’s Temple of Fine Arts — Gayathri, Prakash and Pradeepan — shared details about ODYSSEY.
A total of 86 students, aged between seven and 46, will perform in the programme. The event will feature a mix of Indian and Western music, with both fast-paced and slow musical presentations by students of Shivanjali’s Temple of Fine Arts.
The production will feature a team of more than 100 performers and crew members from Shivanjali’s Temple of Fine Arts, bringing together music, visual storytelling and guitar-based performances. The presentation explores the idea of an odyssey — a long, meaningful and adventurous journey — and connects it with the blossoming of the soul.
ODYSSEY seeks to present the different stages of an individual’s inner journey, reflecting on experiences, transformation and the gradual unfolding of the self. The production will use music and visual expression to interpret this journey for the audience.
The programme marks the fifth collaboration between Shivanjali’s Temple of Fine Arts and Kumaraguru Institutions for a large-scale cultural presentation for the people of Coimbatore. Their earlier collaborations — JAALAM, SOUL, ASTITVA and VYOM — were presented at the Ramanandha Adigalar Auditorium and brought together audiences of music and art enthusiasts.
