KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology (KPRIET) held the 2nd phase of Pragathi 2026 – its inaugural ceremony to welcome the first year students to the campus, on Friday.
K.P.Ramasamy, Chairman, KPR Group presided over the ceremony. Gaurav Gupta, Scientist – F, Cybersecurity, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India was the Chief Guest. Rajendra Kumar, CEO, Lakshmi Ring Travellers; Jayanthasri Balakrishnan, Orator; Mathirajan, Business Development Manager, Belimo , Bengaluru (and an alumnus of the college) took part as special guests.
KPRIET is proud to host you – Akila
Akila, Principal of the college welcomed the students to KPRIET. She then highlighted the engineering, innovation and manufacturing prowess of India, Tamil Nadu and Coimbatore.
By underlining how India manufactures for the world, how Tamil Nadu’s vibrant industrial ecosystem has positioned itself to play a significant role in automobile, electronic and aerospace sectors, and how Coimbatore is rising a leading IT & GCC hub, she affirmed that the students are in the most conducive environment that could nurture the engineers in them.
“You are studying engineering in the right state and the right city, and KPRIET is proud to host you,” she remarked.
She also spoke about the importance given to GATE exam at the college and also various programs like STRIDE, ASPIRE that are uniquely designed by the college to build engineering excellence in their students.
Educate, Elevate – KP Ramasamy
KP Ramasamy in his speech spoke about some interesting corporate leaders who came from different parts of Tamil Nadu and are known for reshaping the corporate world as we know it.
He said that Chennai’s SN Subrahmanyan, Chairman of L&T, Namakkal’s Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, Thanjavur’s Sridhar Vembu, Founder of Zoho Corp; Thoothukudi’s Shiv Nadar, Founder, HCL Group and Madurai’s Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google are all men who elevated to great heights because of education and vision.
He appealed to the students to seek knowledge not just from books and classrooms but from everywhere, and use the opportunities that are granted to them, so that they too can elevate like these top leaders.
