The Department of Emergency Medicine at Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH) organised a two-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) seminar and hands-on workshop titled “Advanced Management of Trauma in Emergency Care” (AMTEC 2026) at the hospital premises.

In India, millions of people suffer accidents and injuries every year, which remain a major cause of mortality and health complications. Recognising the need for systematic and evidence-based trauma care, KMCH, a Level 1 Trauma Centre, organised the programme to emphasise timely emergency treatment within the “Golden Hour” — the first hour after injury.

The seminar featured expert lectures, simulation exercises, and practical training sessions. Key topics included airway management, shock treatment, brain injuries, emergency care for children and pregnant women, fracture management, and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).

Specialised training modules on EFAST, ECMO, central line placement, and surgical airway techniques were also conducted as part of the programme.
