Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology (HICET) had started an initiative of offering self-study courses in various Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platforms like SWAYAM – NPTEL, COURSERA, eDX, etc., to the students and faculty members of the college.

To take this initiative forward, Jaya, Principal of the College, encouraged the faculty members and students to enroll in NPTEL online courses in their passionate subjects.

Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology was recognised as one among the Top 200 Institutions in India in SWAYAM NPTEL Local Chapter Ratings during January 2025 to April 2025.

More than 2,000 faculty members and students from the college have registered for the NPTEL exam during the January–April 2025 session across a wide range of courses. These include:

  • Outcome-Based Pedagogic Principles for Effective Teaching
  • Fundamentals of Theoretical and Experimental Aerodynamics
  • Renewable Energy Engineering: Solar, Wind, and Biomass Energy Systems
  • Engineering Hydrology
  • Fundamentals of Automotive Systems
  • Introduction to Industry 4.0 and IoT
  • Introduction to Internet of Things
  • Sensors and Actuators
  • Principles of Management
  • Cloud Computing
  • Biophotonics
  • Novel Technologies for Food Processing and Shelf Life Extension
  • Membrane Technology

In this exam, 11 faculty and students achieved country topper status across the nation, 7 faculty, students achieved Elite+ Gold status, 135 faculty, students achieved Elite+ Silver, 529 Faculty, students achieved Elite Status, and 606 faculty and students have completed the courses.

This achievement highlights the in-depth subject and technical knowledge of our faculty and students. Through this, the students can expand their horizons and develop their technological expertise in a variety of fields, which will in turn aid them for a successful career in their chosen field of Industry.

About NPTEL

The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), an initiative by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for creating digital or web-based course contents in engineering and science.

NPTEL provides e-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Sciences, Technology, Management and Humanities.

HICET’s Journey with NPTEL

Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology (HICET) started its journey with Swayam-NPTEL as a local chapter in the year 2016, and the college has been recognised as an Active Local Chapter since 2019.

The consecutive sessions were more successful, and the college has received country toppers, Elite+Gold, Elite+Silver and Elite appreciation from NPTEL for successful students and faculty members.
