The Department of Computer Applications, Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology in Association with the District Cyber Crime Cell, Coimbatore, inaugurated Cyber Hive on 31st October 2025.
Jayasudha, Head, Department of Computer Applications, delivered the welcome address, followed by the Presidential Address by Jaya, Principal.
The Chief Guest, Panchalingam, Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime Police Station, Coimbatore District, delivered a speech on “The Importance of Cybersecurity in the Digital Era.”
In his address, he highlighted the growing cyber threats in today’s connected world and explained the different types of cyber threats and security measures.
Special Guest and Keynote Speaker, Lokesh Babu, Advocate, Digital Evidence Analyst, emphasised the need for skill development in ethical hacking, data privacy, and secure computing practices.
Also highlighted the growing career opportunities in the cyber domain and advised students to make use of platforms like the newly inaugurated Cyber Club to gain hands-on experience through workshops, competitions, and research activities.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Sharmila Student member of the Cyber Club.
Students from various departments participated and shared their interest in contributing to the club’s activities. As part of the inauguration, a Walkathon was also organised to create public awareness about the responsible use of technology and the need for cyber vigilance.
