Gopichand P. Hinduja, the chairman of the Hinduja Group, passed away at the age of 85 in London due to illness.

The Hinduja Group, one of India’s largest and most respected multinational conglomerates, expanded under his leadership across industries including automotive, banking, oil and gas, healthcare, IT, and media, with a presence in over 30 countries.

Some of its well-known brands include Ashok Leyland, IndusInd Bank, and NXTDIGITAL Limited.

G P Hinduja was admired not only for his business acumen but also for his philanthropic work, supporting education, healthcare, and community development through the Hinduja Foundation. His vision, integrity, and commitment to excellence made the Hinduja Group a symbol of trust and innovation worldwide.

His leadership saw landmark achievements, from the acquisition of Gulf Oil in 1984 to the revival of Ashok Leyland. He also guided the Group’s entry into the power and infrastructure sectors. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the May his soul rest in peace,” tweeted Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on X.
