G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital (GKNMH) was honoured as the Best Hospital in Paediatric Cardiac Sciences (Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery) in Tamil Nadu.
The award was presented at the Maruthuva Viruthugal 2025 awards ceremony hosted by News18 Tamil Nadu on 12 December in Chennai.
Nasar, Minister for Minorities Welfare and Non-Resident Tamils Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, presented the award to Dr. Vijayakumar, Director, Centre for Paediatric Congenital Heart Disease and Consultant Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon, along with Dr. Santhosh, Medical Director of the hospital.
The recognition is a special appreciation of the tireless efforts of the hospital’s administration, paediatric cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing teams, ICU in-charges, and the entire support staff who work round the clock to improve the lives of children affected by congenital heart defects.
GKNM Hospital performs approximately 400 paediatric cardiac catheterisation procedures and over 450 paediatric open-heart surgeries every year, making it one of the leading centres for paediatric cardiac care in the state.
With the support of CSR funds from various NGOs and corporate partners, the hospital has been able to offer free-of-cost treatment to eligible children. This initiative has provided immense relief to affected families and has encouraged early diagnosis and timely treatment, significantly improving outcomes for children with congenital heart diseases.
