Dr. NGP Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), organised a one-day National Conference on June 4, 2025.

The conference was held under the title “The Scope and Adoption of Electric Vehicles and Public Charging Station Infrastructure for a Sustainable Bharat.”

This event was part of the ICSSR-funded project “Vision Viksit Bharat @ 2047,” focusing on the effectiveness and acceptance of electric vehicles (EVs) and related infrastructure policies.

The conference brought together academicians, researchers, industry experts, and students from across India to discuss advancements and challenges in the EV sector.

The Collaborative Research Project team from the Departments of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, MBA, and IT coordinated the event, supported by a ₹20 lakh grant from ICSSR’s Special Call Division.

Eminent chief guests included Deepak Kumar, Centre Head of CART, IIT New Delhi, and Bharathiraja, Centre Head of Electric Mobility, SRMIST Chennai.

Their addresses emphasised the need for strong policy frameworks and innovative research to promote sustainable mobility in India.

Participants came from eight states, including institutions like SRMIST Chennai, Christ University Bengaluru, Punjabi University, and JNTU Hyderabad etc.

The conference received 42 research papers, showcasing diverse research in electric mobility.

Franklin John Selvaraj, Professor & Head of Management Studies, delivered the welcome address, and Prabha, Principal of the institute, offered opening remarks.

The presidential address was given by Dr. Thavamani D Palaniswami, Secretary of the institute, with key contributions from the institution’s management and trustees.

The chief guest and keynote speaker sessions provided valuable perspectives on the future of EVs in India.

The conference included paper presentation tracks, best paper awards, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Kamalesh.

“The event marked a day rich in academic exchange and collaboration, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to fostering research and policy innovation for a sustainable and technologically advanced Bharat by 2047,” said the organisers.
