The Mechanical Engineering Association at Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) was formally inaugurated recently at the CIT Auditorium.

The ceremony was graced by Karthikeyan, President of CODISSIA and  Managing Director of Sukshma Dynamics, an alumnus of CIT who served as the Chief Guest.

Delivering the presidential address, Rajesh Ranganathan, Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, highlighted the department’s commitment to nurturing innovation, practical skills, and research among students.

He emphasized the association’s role as a platform to bridge academic knowledge and industrial practices, encouraging students to pursue excellence and stay aligned with emerging technologies.

In his keynote address, Karthikeyan spoke on the “Five Pillars for MSME Growth” and highlighted how each of these areas presents critical opportunities for mechanical engineers.

He also stressed the versatile role of mechanical engineers across all sectors, from manufacturing and automation to health care and product design, urging students to stay industry-ready and future-focused.

He also pointed out the importance of strong industry-academic collaboration, entrepreneurship, and technical competence in shaping the next generation of engineers. He urged students to actively participate in such forums to enhance their professional readiness.

The Mechanical Engineering Association is guided by Velliangiri and Sam Solomon, who serve as the Faculty Advisors. Under their mentorship, the association aims to enhance student engagement through technical lectures, hands-on workshops, industrial visits, and student-led initiatives.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty and students, marking a vibrant beginning to the Association’s activities for the academic year.
