Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS) recently organised an Academic Orientation Programme for its second-year MBA students on August 4, 2025.

The event was designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the academic activities and expectations for the upcoming semester.

Valarmathi, Director, VIMS, delivered a special address, welcoming the students and emphasising the importance of engaging in academic activities.

She highlighted the significance of electives, internships, resume writing, off-campus presentations, certification programs, and placement training in shaping their careers. She also stressed the need for students to build HR networks and industry connections through social media platforms.

Valarmathi encouraged students to leverage social media to arrange chief guests and participate in industry events such as CMA Meetings, NIPM, CII, and BNI Meetings. By doing so, students can gain valuable insights and exposure to the industry, enhancing their career prospects.

As part of the orientation program, the VIMS Placement cell organised an event on “Next-Level Career Docs” for second-year MBA students.

The session was led by Durai, Associate Professor, Kowsalya, Associate Professor, and Kumaraguru, Placement Officer – VIMS.

The faculty members provided students with expert guidance on developing effective resumes using Automatic Tracking Systems (ATS). They emphasised the importance of incorporating keywords, avoiding short and long resumes, and avoiding using tables and existing templates.

Additionally, they presented on AI-based resume-building techniques to help students manage the competitive job market.
