Auguste Escoffier was a legendary French chef known in the Europe and the West as the King of Chefs and the Chef of Kings. He is credited for popularizing several pioneering cuisine concepts including the à la carte menu.

The Department of Catering Science and Hotel Management of Dr. N.G.P. Arts and Science College organised the Auguste Escoffier Endowment Lecture for students.
D.Srinivasan, Managing Director of Sree Annapoorna Sree Gowrishankar Hotels Private Limited, Coimbatore, was the special guest and delivered a lecture on food service, equipment manufacturing, innovation, entrepreneurship and emerging opportunities in the hospitality sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivasan shared that the Tamil community had practised steam-based cooking methods thousands of years ago, reflecting the richness of Indian culinary traditions. He emphasised that healthy food is essential for human well-being and that the food production and service sector has an important role in meeting the growing needs of society.
He encouraged the students to gain practical experience alongside their education, He advocated the “Earn While You Learn” approach through part-time employment and urged students to create jobs than seek them. He assured students that he would always be willing to provide guidance and support to students who are interested in starting new ventures.
The program was attended by Buvaneswaran, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. NGP Research and Educational Trust (NGPRET); Saravanan, Principal, Dr.N.G.P. Arts and Science College; Dr. Mathura V. Palaniswami, Secretary, Dr.NGP Arts and Science College; and Dr. Arun N. Palaniswami, Trustee, Dr. NGPRET, along with heads of departments, faculty members and a large number of students.
