A 25-over cricket match between the Coimbatore District Veterans’ (Above 65) Cricket Team and the Salem District Veterans’ (Above 65) Cricket Team was held at the SNR Grounds on Sunday.
The Coimbatore district team featured several stalwarts who have represented Tamil Nadu in cricket, while three members of the team have represented India in Over-65 veterans’ cricket matches held abroad.
Lakshminarayanaswamy, President of the Coimbatore District Cricket Association, and Gurusami, Head Coach, organised the match.
The Coimbatore District Veterans’ team won the match, scoring 162 for six in 25 overs, while the Salem team scored 132 for nine in their allotted 25 overs.
Ramakrishnan, captain of the Coimbatore team, received the trophy from Lakshminarayanaswamy.
The event provided an opportunity for veteran cricketers to continue their association with the sport and showcase their skills on the field.
