The PG & Research Department of History, Nirmala College for Women, recently distributed two sewing machines to transgender beneficiaries under its outreach programme, Thulir Vizhuthugal, as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Xavier Board of Higher Education.
The initiative aimed to promote social inclusion, self-reliance, dignity of labour, and economic independence among members of the transgender community.

Padmini, Transgender Activist-cum-Assistant Professor of Tamil at Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, presided over the function.
Mary Fabiola, Principal; Malliga, Dean of Student Affairs-cum-Associate Professor of History; Priyapremlatha, Head, Department of History; Rajan, Retired Professor; and Chandraleghan, Retired Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore, were present on the occasion.
