Nikhil, a badminton player from Coimbatore and a student of Rak’s Sports Academy has qualified to represent India in the upcoming Asian Badminton Championship for Sub Juniors that will be held in China, later this year.
Swetha Krishnamurthy, Founder of Rak’s Sports Academy chaired a press conference on Thursday and told reporters that Nikhil entered the All India Sub Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2026 held under Badminton Association of India and won the first prize in Mixed Doubles category. (Nikhil’s partner is in Chennai).
This win has made the pair qualify for the Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Junior Championships that will be held in Chengdu, China in September.
Swetha said that Nikhil has been taking coaching at Rak’s for the last 6-7 years continuously, and she credited this incredible achievement to the hardwork of Nikhil and Rak’s team of Coaches under Head Coach Mahendran.
“This is the 4th year Rak’s is sending a player from our academy. We thank the trust parents have on us,” she remarked.
Parents of Nikhil, Jaikumar Palanisamy and Nithya Jaikumar both said that their son has been interested deeply in Badminton since he was 6 years old, and he dedicates almost 10 hours, training with zeal and goal.

“Sports has given our son a straight way towards life. He practices punctually, and follows a disciplined approach. That makes us feel satisfied,” they said.
Earlier a felicitation ceremony was held at the academy and Nikhil was given a Warrior’s Guard of Honor at the event. The budding players of the academy joined him and celebrated his victory.
