PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research (PSG iTech) inducted the first-year students on 22.08.24.
Dr. N. Saravanakumar, Principal, welcomed the gathering and spoke about the importance of developing new skills to be successful in personal and professional life. He said the student role is to find solutions for complex societal problems with their engineering skill. He talked about the placement and other achievements.
At the same time, he briefed about the academic process, research activities, extra-curricular activities, state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities available in the college, and various achievements made by students and members of the faculty.
In his Presidential address, Dr P.V. Mohanram, Secretary, congratulated the budding engineers, he asked the students to thank their parents for their support in their journey. He shared some tips and tricks for effective learning. Also, he briefed about the philanthropic works carried out by the PSG Sons’ and charities.
He asked the students to focus on things happening around the globe mainly on their industry. Students need to visualise their work and its output. He says now The Government of India has its new vision “Design in India”. He encouraged the students to do more projects and connect with people to do teamwork.
Chief Guest Shrikant S Bairagi, Managing Director ARGO-HYTOS Pvt. Ltd. India delivered the inaugural address, he congratulated all the students for securing good marks in their exams and joining PSG iTech. He urged the students to be on their own and take responsibility for learning new concepts out of their interests.
He also stated that students should be proactive and understand what society expects and their larger roles and responsibilities in society. He told the students to know about the skill gap between Industry and Institution.
He also mentions that students should have Analytical thinking, Creative thinking, Leadership skills and the right use of AI technologies. Importantly, he motivates the students to become entrepreneurs, he asks the students to think of their business idea as they are in Coimbatore a business hub they have lots of opportunities ahead.
Finally, Dr. C.L. Vasu, Dean – Academics, proposed the vote of thanks.
