5 artists from Kongu Oviya Kalai Kuzhu, a Coimbatore-based forum for artists have exhibited their paintings on diverse themes at the prestigious Kasthuri Srinivasan Art Gallery & Textile Museum near Aravind Eye Hospital.

Kalaimamani awardee, artist Jeevananthan inaugurated the exhibition cum sale event. The exhibition features 70+ paintings (watercolors, acrylic, oil color, poster color, charcoal etc) by artists – Rajendran, Kumanan, Murugesan, Ramamoorthy and Govindarajulu, all carrying over 20-30 years of experience and professional knowledge in the field of painting.

The art works will be on display for 5 days – 13th to 17th of May at the gallery from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Jeevananthan, in an exclusive interaction with The Covai Mail shared his thoughts on Students’ interest towards painting and A.I.

“We always get students who are interested in learning art, sadly there is a shortage of truly passionate teachers. Unlike subjects like math or physics, art requires a teacher who is deeply involved to successfully pass that passion on to the younger generation,” said Jeeva.

“Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is simply another tool, much like the transition from traditional tools to computers and Wacom boards. Just like how creativity is needed to produce a beautiful painting, to use A.I., one requires command in language, artistic understanding and expressions to provide the right prompts,” he added.
